What is your IP address?
You should send calls to sip.44mobile.net or 95.154.218.4. If you use SIP and are
authenticating by fixed IP address, you MUST send calls to our non-standard SIP port 6060.
Can I authenticate from a dynamic IP address?
Yes. If you have a SIP adapter, you can configure it to use your account number
and password for authentication.
Can I use a Linksys PAP2?
Yes. We recommend the following settings:
- NAT settings
- NAT Keep Alive Enable = No
- Proxy and Registration
- Proxy = sip.44mobile.net
- Outbound proxy = [blank]
- Use Outbound proxy = No
- Make Call Without Reg = Yes
- Answer Call Without Reg = Yes
- Subscriber information
- User ID = [Your 44Mobile account number]
- Password = [Your 44Mobile password]
- Use Auth ID = No
- Supplementary Service Subscription
- Audio Configuration
- G729a Enable = No. (If you are only using one port on the device, you can set this
for "Yes" for improved audio quality. But, the adapter only allows one
concurrent Low Bitrate Call when this codec is enabled.)
- DTMF Tx Method = INFO
Can I disable dynamic IP address
authentication?
All 44Mobile accounts are created with dynamic IP address authentication enabled.
Please contact our support team if you would like to
disable this and authenticate using a fixed IP address only.
How do I add or remove an IP address on my
account?
You should send an email to our support team
detailing your requirements.
Can I have multiple fixed IP addresses on my
account?
Yes.
Can I use a shared fixed IP address?
If you use a hosted softswitch that does not give you a unique public IP address, then
we will need to add a tech. prefix to your account. You should send an email to our support team detailing your requirements.
Bear in mind that no further per-call authentication is provided, so all calls from your
IP address and with your tech. prefix will be assigned to your account.
What dialling pattern should I use?
When created, 44Mobile accounts will accept calls in either of these formats:
- Country + Number (E.164)
- 00 + Country + Number
Please contact our support team if you would like a different
dialling format.
Should I use H.323 or SIP?
We support both call signalling protocols, but we recommend that you use H.323, because
it is more reliable. If you use H.323, you must enable Fast Start and H.245
tunnelling. If you use SIP and you are authentication by fixed IP address, you MUST
send calls to our non-standard SIP port 6060.
What codecs do you support?
We support G.729 and G.723.1 (fast rate).
Do you support the G.711 codecs?
Our standard accounts do not support G.711. But, if you request it from our support team, it can be added. There is a 2%
uplift on rates for accounts that have G.711 enabled.
Will DTMF work?
Yes. For H.323, you need to enable H.245 tunnelling and send DTMF information in
an H.245 UserInputIndication message. For SIP, you need to send the information in
SIP INFO messages.
Will fax work?
Our service is primarily voice, but fax may work to some destinations. Your
equipment will need to support the T.38 fax protocol over H.323 or SIP.
Do you support Asterisk?
We support Asterisk using SIP, but not IAX. But, you will need to install and
licence the G.729 or G.723.1 codec, unless you are willing to pay the 2% rate uplift
charged for adding G.711 support to your account. Also, you should disable re-invite
on the trunk group, because we do not support that feature and it is not possible to
renegotiate the media path once it has been established.
Can you configure my VoIP switch for me?
No; we do not offer that service.
